Concepts Assignment/ four version/ Spring '09

Here they are!

These are the four versions for the Dance Troupe project for my concepts class. Even though I'm not a fan of the academic and structural.... anything... (projects, etc) I'm happy with the way this project came out. The one that captures my attention for a final is the first version and the last. My class liked the third and the forth sketches....... was kind of surprised with their choice with the third one which is the same as the forth but without the black crowd in the background.

I'll be posting more assignments later and I've been thinking about some new ideas for personal projects. Sooooo, stay tuned!

Concepts Assignment/ Dance Troupe/Spring '09

It's been some time that I've posted drawings since I've started going to college. I'll be posting more sketches from my drawing/painting classes and from my junior concepts class at Parsons.

This assignment was based on a dance troupe or dance style that exists and make a drawing and final product that would capture the essence of the style. The final drawing was to be placed in the format of The New Yorker magazine and choose which out of the three choices we had would be the best. My choice of style of music was Salsa. I'm a big fan but not as big as my parents. These drawings/final drawings are the variations that I showed during my class but I have a forth version which I'll post after this one.

I entered The New School with the intention of entering the Fine Arts department but I chose Illustration. Although there are many similarities (in my mind) between the two, I'm having or I had a lot of difficulty finding out how I could make Illustrations and figuring out, What is an Illustration??? How does this relate to my post? Well, I feel much better with my progress with the drawings I've been making lately and these sketches are some of the drawings I've been feeling good about. And although I may not be producing "great" works for my illustration classes (compared to all the other stuff my classmates are doing), I still love what I do and will continue to produce work to the best of my ability. :)

So, I think I'm done rambling and I'll post the final right...............NOW! Bye! Thanks for reading!!!!! Bye!!!

Nicole :)
